I have managed to connect a 64 USB thumb drive with my entire music collection and iTunes library on it where I can access it from computers tablet and phone within my home. I am wondering if it is possible if I can access it when I am away from home and play my music files, albums and playlists from it, since my router is connected and online 24/7.

In principle, yes.
You could get a router that supports inward VPN access (not the Plusnet supplied one) and (subject to your upstream bandwidth) connect to your drive.
Easier and simpler might be to get a second 64MB drive or SD card and take a copy with you.....
Alternatively some of the cloud services let you upload your music to them.
Another way (possibly the best) is to invest in a WD "MyCloud" and put everything on that. You can get remote access apps for various platforms.
64MB isn't actually that much storage nowadays.
