How do I turn off the Hotspot BT Wifi-Fon

Hi,

I am helping an elderly couple to turn off the Hotspot which the PlusNet router provides for BT users. It shows as Wifi-Fon

Due to the coronavirus I cannot visit them and login and therefore I wonder do they do this via the account page on Plusnet like My BT or on the router?

And if anyone could provide screenshots it would be fantastic.

Welcome to the forum, @Nordic98 .

If they are using a Plusnet supplied router, then this does not come with the Hot-spot capabilities. Exactly where are they seeing this indication?

Hi John,

All neighbours who have BT have turned off their hotspot to help a family with someone who is addicted to computer games.
One hotspot remained and the only one was this plus net user.
If you search in the community you will find threads that clearly shows that the plus net router is providing the hotspot.
Please check and you will find that you can see a WiFi-fon network close to you and if you turn off the plus net router it should disappear.

Sorry, Lars, but I promise you, if they have a Plusnet -branded router, they are not hot-spot capable. which router do they actually have?

Can you link me to a thread where it says they are?

The only BT routers which have the ability are the HH6 business models, which I sincerely doubt they would have.

@jab1 is right. There is no public Wi-Fi capability in any of the routers Plusnet provide.

Lars, that refers to the BT HH5, which is not the Plusnet Hub 0 - and as @bobpullen has advised, PN modem/routers have no publicly accessible Wi-Fi capabilities.

Maybe the the family with the problem member can see their router in the list of nearby ones, but unless they know your friends Wi-Fi key, they would not be able to access it.
