Host Name is no longer valid

Hi all

Like many, I'm battling with teenagers over online hours and various devices so I have restricted their usage via the Plusnet Hub apart from one.

My youngest son's phone. Same phone as his elder brother.

Every time I click on it via the device access page and try to apply a restriction, it says Host Name is no longer Valid. Doesn't matter if I change the name, still the same problem.

I can restrict all the other devices no problem.

Driving me nuts, any ideas, cheers.

Hi @gregster

I don't *think* this is anything to do with the router...but I could be wrong.

Every time I click on it via the device access page and try to apply a restriction, it says Host Name is no longer Valid. Doesn't matter if I change the name, still the same problem.

So you change this and it doesn't allow you to change?

I'll ask around in the office and see if anyone has any idea.

Thanks,

MoR

Just a thought @gregster, could it be that your son has changed the device name himself? If you're in any doubt it would be an idea to power cycle your router so it 'forgets' all of the devices currently connected. When you son then connects to the network login and see what is being reported. Some devices ignore hostname changes sent from a router in preference to their own.

@Anonymous

That's a good suggestion - it was brought up this side as well, but I've only just managed to get round to replying to the thread again.

Thanks,

MoR
