Fibre router making a hissing noise

Hi,

The router we got sent makes a hissing noise when devices on 5GHz are using it. The CS suggests to turn off the 5 band but that’s no good as WiFi speed cuts down from 58 mbps to about 30. Is there anything that can be done?

@dan17

Go onto an auction site such as EBay and spend very little money on a BT Smarthub 6. Setting instructions ae here:  https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/Using-the-BT-Smarthub-6-on-a-Plusnet-Account/m-p/1587673#M85...

Re: Fibre router making a hissing noise

Hi @dan17

Unfortunately, our supplier has advised that the hissing sound is within tolerance for the design of the Hub One and therefore there's nothing that we can do in terms of negating this if disabling/splitting out the 5hz frequency doesn't help.

My apologies that I couldn't respond with better news.

Best wishes

Dave

Re: Fibre router making a hissing noise

Hi Dave,

That’s ok, thank you for the info. I will try the BT smart hub 6 and see what happens.
