DNS issues

Hi
We are having multiple devices with connectivity issues and after experiencing it myself I switched my pc to a direct DNS provider, which resolved the issue. Is there a way to change the DNS settings on the router, I can't seem to find it.
Thanks
Tony

Re: DNS issues

@TONYOH Welcome to the forum.  🙂

If it's a Plusnet-supplied router, then unfortunately, no.  😥

Re: DNS issues

@TONYOH couple of questions...
1. Is the problem temporarily resolved if you reboot the router?
2. If you configure a device to go direct to the Plusnet DNS servers (212.159.13.49 & 212.159.13.50), does that also 'fix' things?

Re: DNS issues

Hi Bob
The outage is normally less than a minute, so I haven't managed to reboot yet. Yes, we have devices using direct server addresses to bypass the issue, though not the Plusnet ones, but I can try those. I normally see this when gaming, so I expect it to reocurr if these changes have not solved the issue. Will update in the week if I have noticed it. Thanks

Re: DNS issues

Thanks, doesn't quite fit the symptoms of what I suspected.

Just to confirm: you are using a Hub One router?

Let me know how you get on as I may still be able to help.

Re: DNS issues

Ok. Yes it's a hub one. We switched a month ago. Firmware . 4.7.5.1.83.8.263.

Re: DNS issues

So it looks like a WiFi issue rather than DNS. It happened last night on my laptop. I had been using it all afternoon and then it kept disconnecting and my phone also lost WiFi. About 7 times in a 15 minute period. I switched to a wired connection and all was fine.

Re: DNS issues

I have the same on and off internet issue since 3 days ago, in the evening mostly.

I tried all sorts of online tweaks, I`ve changed the DNS address, reinstalled my network adapter, reset the router, nothing worked, I have no stable internet connection in the evening.

My phone also losses wifi signal so it`s not my laptop`s fault.

Any advice?

Re: DNS issues

@TONYOH - I've pushed an update to your router. You'll need to reboot at your side to apply it. Keep an eye on things and let me know if it's helped.

@Doinita - sorry to hear you're having problems but it seems your issue is unrelated. Firstly, you are not using a Hub One (you have a Hub Zero). Secondly, your physical broadband connection is dropping out. I would suggest you start a new thread and if you haven't already, report a line fault here.

Re: DNS issues

Hi Bob, thank you for your reply, I`ve researched a lot on this forum and bought a Bt Hub 6 off Ebay, hopefully I`ll have a better  internet connection if I manage to install it Smiley

So far my internet didn`t drop at all today, it`s just slower than usual, not  much I can do apart from reporting it, thank you Smiley

Hi Bob

Seems much better, only noticed one drop, which is fine. Thanks for your assistance.
