Re: DNS Issues

Hey, @bobpullen any chance I could get a router update as well? What info do you need? I'm having to reset my router daily and it's starting to really annoy me. Thanks. PS Current firmware version:
Plusnet Hub One | Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.263 | Last updated Unknown

Re: DNS Issues

@bobpullen
I recieved the update and have monitored for 24 hours, no improvement on my end. Devices are connected to the router but are still saying no Internet and DNS issues

Re: DNS Issues

@thomashodder92 - then something else is at play. Your underlying Internet connection has dropped ~10 times or so over the last week, however this wouldn't result in a permanent issue affecting all of your connected devices.

Your router is not struggling to resolve DNS as can be seen below. This was run whilst connected to your router and shows the router is able to successfully resolve website addresses:-

> net host bbc.co.uk
Found host bbc.co.uk:
151.101.0.81
151.101.64.81
151.101.128.81
151.101.192.81

> net host google.com
Found host google.com:
142.250.200.46

> net host plus.net
Found host plus.net:
212.159.9.2
212.159.8.2

Any other wireless access points/extenders on your network that could be causing problems? Perhaps worth a factory reset of the router if you haven't tried that already.

@wasAnetworkGEEK - if you drop me a private message containing your router serial number then I'll take a look.

Re: DNS Issues

Looks like I am having this issue since I joined plusnet about a month ago.

DNS resolution fails about every 8hr. Devices I can manually configure with 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 or even plusnet DNS work fine. Devices left to auto or I can’t change stop working.

I have been given the run around with plusnet support and the faults team for around for weeks now.

Software version 4.7.5.1.83.8.263 Last updated Unknown

Is there a more recent firmware and how do I get it applied.

Re: DNS Issues

@bobpullen how can I request a new firmware from plusnet support?

Re: DNS Issues

Hi Bob,

@bobpullen

I've had this problem for over a year and yeah exactly the same thing, have to change DNS to google or reboot router.

All VPN related, both the one I use for work Fortinet and my wife's NHS one.

Any chance of some help?  I am on my second hub one.

Just had someone I work with tell me they have the same problem - another plusnet customer.

Many thanks

Micky

Re: DNS Issues

@henrymartin1401 & @greySquirrel - I've pushed a software update to both of your routers. You'll need to power them off/back on at your side to apply it.

Fairly confident it will help.

Re: DNS Issues

Hi @bobpullen

We've started having this issue today, reboots fix it briefly - switching PCs to open DNS sorts it on those but the mobiles that we can't do that with have constant DNS errors.

You pushed an update to fix the 5ghz issue very recently so I fear we might already have this fix.. ?

Re: DNS Issues

Ignore this - moved to BT hub 6 and set specific DNS settings. Sorted now

Re: DNS Issues

@Bingobongo sorry - only just noticed your post.

.289 does indeed contain the fix for the DNS resolution issue. Yours would be the first example I've seen where people have continued to complain after having this firmware applied.

Don't suppose there's much we can do to look into it now though if you have swapped the hub out.

Re: DNS Issues

I think I have a similar issue to the one described in this thread. How could get the firmware updated please?

Re: DNS Issues

Hey @bobpullen. It would be great if I could get my firmware upgraded, as I am on .263 and experiencing the same problem. I have posted in [1] too to be sure my request is seen. Thanks in advance!

Matthew.

Re: DNS Issues

Hi @bobpullen,

I seem to be having DNS issues with my router too - please could you kindly push this firmware update to it?

Thanks!
