Cannot log into router

Hi,

I cannot log into my router stats.   just get waiting signal.

The only thing I can think is that I have added a BG Hive to the router.

Any help gratefully received.

Re: Cannot log into router

Are you using a wired connection or WiFi? If WiFi, then try Wired. If Wired, you may have to reset the router and try again.

Hi

How do you  mean wired.

Basically everything seems to be working, wired ethernet to PC , WiFi to phone.

Just cannot check stats from router

Re: Cannot log into router

Hi

Latest update.

Cannot access router stats

Tried using Chrome,Firefox  and Safari

Chrome and Firefox fail to connect Safari shows me search engine page of various related sites.

App on phone WiFi analyser shows me my wifi LAN, correctly.

Tried a Google search, all sorts of suggestions but no solutions.

Is it worth trying Plusnet as the router is still under their warranty.

Any suggestions gratefully received

The oldest one in the book?

Power it off, and on again.

Re: Cannot log into router

I have a similar problem.

Early in the night I found  I could not telnet to my Thompson TG 585 V7 modem.

I reset it but still cant login with it's serial number as the password.

It looks like Plusnet may have updated the firmware and changed the default password on it.

As soon as I reset the modem now it goes on to the Plusnet web site and configures itself.

If I unplug the BT line and reset the modem it still will not let me log in to the modem.

Re: Cannot log into router

Ignore my previous comments about the firmware I can now log in to the modem OK.

I was using the default WEP (wifi) password by mistake instead of the modem serial number.

My TG585 V7 is on firmware version 8.2.23.0.

Re: Cannot log into router

Hi @SWANECO,

Is the issue that you are having is just trying to login to your router via local IP address? When entering in your IP address of the router to the address bar in your browser you have said that Safari comes up with search results which would indicate that it was needing the protocol being part of the URL (http:// or https://) as the browser just did a web search for that IP address.

Have you tried including the protocol in the URL for example

http://192.168.1.254

Have you also tried visiting this URL (source😞

Re: Cannot log into router

Hi

Many thanks for all your suggestions.

I have tried all the easy bits, command line etc.

I think that I may have to try the traditional ON/OFF and if that fails a paperclip in the router reset.

I know it sounds a bit boring but part of me says everything works leave it until kindly Plusnet offer me an affordable upgrade to FTTC. then the new router would make it all go away.

Cheers

Many thanks Spend Less Time

Your  helpful suggestion of ON/OFF was accidentally followed, I pulled the wrong plug out.

Everything works perfectly, stats and all.

Cheers

@SWANECO

Thank you for that comment, I actually laughed out loud although that wasn't your intention I'm sure. Grin
