Can't install new router on changeover day?

I'm currently in hospital, so I can't install my new router. Will the system continue to work on the existing ADSL router?

Re: Can't install new router on changeover day?

Hi,

Your existing router will not work when you switch over to Plusnet, this is because the router needs login details which have to be manually entered.  The service will activate however the internet will not be able to be accessed until the Plusnet Hub is connected or connection details entered,

Thanks, NE

As @NorthEasterner has said you'll have to physically swap them over on the change over day.

I'm not switching to PlusNet, just from Plusnet ADSL to Plusnet FTTC.

You'll still need to swap unless it's a Hub One you're using as FTTC uses different technology to ADSL.

The order isn't complete yet which is most likely why it's still working.

OK. I've just read the online instructions; is it really a matter of just plugging it in and waiting 5 minutes? No username or password etc? My wife should be able to do this, and her PC is wired.

The printer won't work, it relys on the router giving it a fixed IP, but I can sort all that out when I get home.

Yes, it should be that simple. The router will self-configure itself. Given that your wife's PC is wired, it should be pretty straightforward. As you say, the printer won't work.

TBH I had hoped that, under the circumstances, one of the PlusNet help team on here might have offered to call your wife to talk her through the setup. If she gets stuck, a call to the Customer service on 0800 432 0200 should get any help she needs, might be a bit of a wait on the phone though.
