A few years ago I bought a BT branded extender as I was keen to ensure no compatability issues (the HUB 1 is a rebranded BT Hub 5 as you are probably aware). It has worked fine.
The model I got was called the WI-Fi Extender 300 and was, if I recall, towards the bottom of the BT range of extenders. That model is almost certainly no longer available but there will be others on the market now.
