I have a raspberry Pi on my home LAN, and I am finding that the assigned DHCP address changes (yes I know I could assign it as static).
Is there anyway on the 2704 to assign a static DHCP assigned IP?

There is an advanced settings page on the 2704n http://192.168.1.254/expert_user.html .
I think that set of menus should help
