Broadband Password

Hi,

My plus net router is dying. i brought a new router but i can not set it up as my broadband password is hidden under my connection settings and there is no option to reveal it. Tech support is not offering any option to call due to covid-19 shut down.

has anyone got any idea how to get around this.

many thanks

Krish

@krish

If I remember correctly, its the same one you use to log in to get your billing information. (the community password should be different to the router/billing password for security reasons)

Re: Broadband Password

@krish

Just to confirm

Can you actually log in to the billing system, this will confirm the username/password is correct?

Type the password into your text editor and cut / paste onto the password field on the billing system,.

If ok, then paste onto the password field on the new router.

Also check the username is correct, no extra spaces at the end/beginning and the 'at' (@) symbol is correct, ie you may have miss typed it as some software/keyboard combinations can cause issues.

What new router are you using?

Re: Broadband Password

Are you using the correct username, e.g yourusername@plusdsl.net?

Failing that some routers don't like passwords with special characters, so if you're using them try changing it

Re: Broadband Password

That is strange. Are you putting your broadband username in correctly - it takes the format "username"@plusdsl.net.

Another thought - do you have any special characters in your password? Some routers (esp. the BT Smarthub) do not like them (or at least only like a few of them). If so then change your password to avoid them.

Re: Broadband Password

@krish To configure a third party router you will need to consult your manufacturer or your manual to gain access to your router and find the necessary pages.

Encapsulation Type: PPPoE (PPP over Ethernet)
Username: Username@plusdsl.net
Password: Your account password
