@wesupportthepal

Try calling Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 explain you were not offered a new router.

@wesupportthepal

The Hub Two was not long released for plusnet home broadband users last December for Unlimited and Unlimited Extra Fibre (FTTC) customers only, but you had to request one. It wasn't offered as part of the renew then, might different now. If you have Unlimited Broadband (ADSL) I think you could have requested a Hub One.

 I doubt you could request a new one unless your current Hub has developed a fault like dropping of wireless connections! You can use a 3rd Party xDSL (ADSL/VDSL) modem/router of you choice if you want.

The Hub Two does not allow the splitting of the 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless names which might be a problem for you.

Hi there,

Are you having any issues with your router you've currently got?

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: Been a customer for years but still got a old router

In all honesty I would suggest buying your own router.
ISP routers do the trick but not that great.
Dan the Van has pointed out the 2.4 and 5ghz WiFi problem with the home hub 2 so if you have a mixture of these devices you might run into a problem.
Even if you don't it would be future proofing if you encountered it with new devices in the future.
I'm not sure if the home hub 2 supports WiFi6 but newer laptops, mobile phones etc would perform better with a router that supported the feature.

Yes I'm undecided if I should get a mesh system or a new router
What router would you recommend ?

Re: Been a customer for years but still got a old router

The are many online reviews for modem, routers and mesh systems. TP-Link, Netgear, Asus and many others, the final choice depends on how much money you want to spend.

In some cases all that is required is a wireless extender rather than a Mesh network, Mesh hardware comes at a cost.

For years now I have favoured TP-Link products and find their One Mesh system works well for me.

The plusnet Hub Two can be configured in 'Bridge Mode' (modem only) which is handy as this allows you to buy a router only device or mesh system with built in router, both must support PPPoE connections.

I'm with you on TP Link routers. My previous one for FTTC was rock solid and never missed a heartbeat.
The AX3000 I bought for FTTP is a really nice piece of kit and blows hub2 out of the window.
