Re: BT Home Hub 5 Type B on PlusNet

So need to see what BTW and Plusnet have set the line to as the speed tests are showing a unreasonable amount of difference to  the sync speeds.

What does the BTW IP Profile show at http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/

Click "yes" , then "Begin test". When the first test is done, click "Run Further Diagnostics test", enter your phone number only on the next page, click "Run Diagnostics test". Do not change anything on your router even if the page says to as that would connect you to the BTW network and not the Plusnet one.

Also what does the Plusnet Line Speed show at https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed

Re: BT Home Hub 5 Type B on PlusNet

BT Results:

Download speed achieved during the test was - 11.37 Mbps
IP Profile for your line is - 13.83 Mbps

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.9Mbps
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps

PlusNet Results:

Estimated line speed:There's no speed estimate currently held on your account.

Current line speed:11.4 Mb

Re: BT Home Hub 5 Type B on PlusNet

You need to get Plusnet to increase the Plusnet Line Speed as it is 2Mbps lower than the BTW IP Profile. This acts as a hard limit and is the fastest your line will work at (assuming it is set to less than the BTW IP Profile)

You will need to call or Chat and ask for the "Plusnet Line Speed" to be increased (unless some nice Plusnet staff sees this thread and helps out)

Re: BT Home Hub 5 Type B on PlusNet

Great many thanks hopefully a PlusNet staff will see this thread and act upon it.

The question is how come the speed was decreased In the first place?

Also how do I disable BT WIFI FON on this router?

Fix

Link to possible FON answer given in post 16 https://community.plus.net/t5/My-Router/BT-Home-Hub-5-Type-B-on-PlusNet/m-p/1341695#M466

Only Plusnet may know the answer to why the speed dropped.

Re: BT Home Hub 5 Type B on PlusNet

I still haven't got the latest firmware update for this router. Surely I should have got it by now?

Still Showing Firmware v0.07.05.0A13-BT (Type B) Last updated 13/12/2015

What to do?

Re: BT Home Hub 5 Type B on PlusNet

I know BT Hub's work on PN, but out of curiosity does the PN HubOne work/ can it be configured to function on BT connection?

Re: BT Home Hub 5 Type B on PlusNet

Hi Gel,

Yeah, because BT allow 3rd party routers and because we don't block our routers you should be able to set it up on a BT connection.
