BT Business Smart Hub Reprovision?

Hi,

I have swapped out my router for a BT Business Smart Hub that I purchased over a year ago and have noticed that the firmware is not updating. After looking through the forums, I guess that this hub has dropped off the network and will require reprovisioning to enable the firmware to be updated. Is it possible for someone to reprovision this device?

@_Andy I don't know for sure, but if it is a BT Hub, then you would need to contact BT, and I suspect, but don't know for certain, that they would say it is no longer their responsibility.

Thanks for the prompt reply John.

It appears that old devices are removed from the list of devices that can receive firmware updates. I have seen comments in other posts about devices being re-added to the list, so was just reaching out in the hope that someone would be able to update the list, otherwise I will need to look at getting a different router.

Any BT supplied Hub is not supported by plusnet and as a result will not receive firmware updates.

Have you checked to see if the firmware is out of date, as it may not need one.

Andy, BT Business is a totally different concern from Plusnet. Plusnet do not maintain BT-branded equipment - it is on a totally different management platform.

I have been using a BT supplied hub on Plusnet for several years and it has always received updates. I have just updated it, since it was starting to cause problems, but the new modem appears unable to connect to the BT server for updates (the logs show it trying to connect, but failing with "TR69 unable to send inform message").

It is on firmware version SG4B1B007010 with a date of 01-Jan-0001, which I guess is the original firmware version.

Can't explain why it isn't updating, then - but why are you using a separate modem with a device which incorporates one?

Sorry my terminology is incorrect, I am just using the BT Smart Hub, as both the modem and router.

OK. As I said, I don't know why it isn't updating, but the date (I don't know about  the f/w version) suggests that BT have knocked it off the platform.
