Asigning a port to a device

Hi, I'm sure this has been asked already but I can't find a definitive answer. With my sky router I was able to assign a port to my cctv DVR which I the viewed on my WiFi network and away from home on a dynamic DNS.
Now with my new plusnet hub one, I have connected my DVR to the router, but cannot assign a port, view on my home network or via 4g.
Am I missing something obvious. I have added the DNS details correctly.
Sorry for any duplication of requests.
