Any point of replacing the Openreach modem?

Last week I replaced the Plusnet supplied router with 2x Asus RT-AX92U routers in a AiMesh configuration. The plusnet router never gave good range in top floor of the house and I think recently it was beginning to fail as speeds became sluggish or maybe too many wifi devices were connected. Now the wifi range is perfect everywhere. Coinciding with the router upgrade I also upgraded connection to Fibre Extra however after 1 week managing to get 55Mbps instead of the promised minimum 70Mbps. I wouldn't expect this to be due to the routers and need to raise a ticket with Plusnet to check what is going on. Now that I have upgraded the router I was wondering if there is any point in upgrading the Openreach modem that got installed by BT engineer when I first joined Plusnet. I believe the modem is the ECI version. Will some kind of new modem give me an improvement of any kind or is the router the more important hardware? If yes then what modem would you recommend?
