3rd Party Router

I’ve been advised that my router is faulty and a new one can’t be delivered until next week. Can anyone advise me on a suitable cheap 3rd party router that I can use as I really need my internet up and running.

Re: 3rd Party Router

How technical are you? Buying an off the shelf router is not as simple as unbox, plug in and it works.

You will need to set up the VDSL details (the famous VLAN 101 etc) as well as setting up a PPPoE client as well as general local side configuration such as DHCP range and wireless details and most importantly turning remote management off or setting a very good administrator password.

You should be able to walk in to somewhere like PC World and ask for a VDSL router and them point you in the direction. It can be much of a muchness between brands and models so pick the best for your budget.

You make it sound very complicated. The set up procedure is very simple, all you need to do is in this post: www.plus.net/help/broadband/broadband-connection-settings/
