changing location of router access point

Recently moved to a new property, where the router access point is in a room in an extension, therefore quite far from the front of the house, causing wifi connection problems.

Have just ordered fibre from Plusnet.

Wondering if 'installation' would include upgrading old phone socket to a new one that could accommodate router in a more central location of the house? Or perhaps running new cables to the hallway?

No, it is just self install these days.

If your FTTC speeds don't meet the Minimum Guaranteed and report to PN, Openreach will come out and fit a Filtered Master Socket, but any moving of cables will be chargeable  - £165 I beleive - you may find a local ex BT chap who would do it cheaper.
