Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

Sorry to see that @Star-Light100

The new order has run into the same issues so we've had to raise another escalation

We should know more by tomorrow

After the 3rd of November I will have a limited presence here as I have moved to a new role

Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

Hi. Just to let you know still nothing has changed speed wise. Heres today’s wired speed test download 143.08 Mbps. Upload 51.01Mbps. I’m starting to lose hope that you can fix this issue. I’m supposed to be getting 300 Mbps. It’s not changing at all with all the different things that have been tried. We seem to be going in circles again. Trying the very same things we did at the start all that time ago. I think we need to try new steps to get this resolved, not doing the same things that have already been tried weeks ago and didn’t change anything.
If anyone has any new ideas of what could be wrong. That would be helpful. Thanks

Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

Hiya @Star-Light100

I'm sorry the speeds have not improved, I have checked the router and we can see it's reaching it. The test you run, were all other devices disconnected at the time.

I have checked the router and we can see it's reaching it.

@SammyM what exactly do you mean by that ?

Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

We are able to connect to the customer's router and see the speed it is receiving.

Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

@SammyM sorry to be pedantic but where do you see that on an FTTP connection ? AFAIK All the router shows is the speed of the connection to the ONT which is always 1Gb

AIUI it is possible to run an intrusive speed test to the ONT via Openreach diagnostics but AFAIK that doesn't involve the router

Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

We have a software that links to the router via the serial number. This allows us to perform changes in the router for the customer when they are not able to. It will show us the strength of the wireless device connection, what is connected via wire and what max speed their Ethernet is giving the wired device, which will help us determine what type of cable they are using.

It also shows us the bands, as well as make changes. It also shows us the statics in the router, i.e what speed the router is receiving and allows us to work out where the loss of speed could be.

The only thing it will not allow us to do is access the router logs. This of course is for all our routers and not third party ones.

I hope this helps.

Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

@MisterW Would it be useful for the OP to try a direct PPOE connection?

Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

@jab1 under normal circumstances of a low speed , yes, but from what's been posted previously this was determined as a provisioning failure. If there was a issue with cabling or pc hardware restricting speeds I wouldn't have expected the download speed to stay stuck at exactly the same speed after the upgrade.

Fair enough, @MisterW  - was just a  thought from my (obviously wrong 😉 ) bored mind.

Not obviously wrong, I'm just not sure it's worth the effort in this case

@Star-Light100 do you have a static IP ?

Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

Thank you for your replies. No static ip address.

Last time I had an issue when I had no service at all. MisterW had the fix when he said .
“ Has anyone checked to see if PPPoE authorisation attempts are hitting the PN gateways ? If they're not , then surely the problem is in the OR/BTw systems”. Thank you again for that fix.

Could it be something to do with this again?.

The only other thing I can think of is the thin white fibre cable running from between the fibre box that’s on the inside of the wall to the white plastic BT box that’s inside my garage. This wasn’t in great shape due to the installer drilling a hole into my waste water pipe and running the cable in the middle of the pipe. I noticed when they re ran the cable it had nicks in it. Also they had to plaster around the damage they caused and the cable before it went back in the wall.I’m hoping that’s not the issue.

Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

I understood the problem was that the upgrade in speed just hasn't happened but you' re still getting a consistent 145 Mb, in that not the case ?

If there was a. problem with the fibre , I would have expected either the PON light or the LOS light on the ONT to indicate a problem

Re: When to expect the full fibre upgrade to happen

Hi. Yes just stuck on 145. All the lights on ONT box are normal. And everything works as it should for a 145 service. Just not seeing anything like the 300 I should be getting.
