When does the 14 day "cooling off" period begin

Hi - has anyone any experience of when the "cooling off" period begins.

a) Does it begin when you pay your first monies

b) when the telephone line becomes usable

c) when you are told that it is OK to plug in the router

The first seems difficult to defend as the services are not necessarily in place after 14 days and therefore cannot experience the service and the second seems unreasonable as the full agreed service is not available.

Am I being unrealistic to expect the contract to begin once all facilities are in place?

Re: When does the 14 day "cooling off" period begin

Plusnet say it is from when you place the order.

Re: When does the 14 day "cooling off" period begin

Plusnet say it is from when you place the order. Is this a "reasonable term" in reference to a contract, especially as there can be occasions when the 14 days expires before a service is provided?

Re: When does the 14 day "cooling off" period begin

"The cooling-off period starts from the point at which the broadband is connected, under consumer law which is laid out in the Consumer Contracts Regulations."

You do have a right cancel - read this article with regards to Virgin that applies across the board.

Re: When does the 14 day "cooling off" period begin

The 14 days starts from the point your contract is agreed.

This 14 day 'cooling off period' is unfortunately not a try before you buy, but is to give you the opportunity about the purchase you've made and is compliant with Consumer Contracts Regulations (replaced distance selling regulations).

Your right to cancel a service made at a distance starts the moment you enter into the contract and lasts 14 days

Your right to cancel  You have 14 days from entering into a service contract in which you can cancel it.

The trader shouldn’t start providing the service before the 14 day cancellation period has ended, unless you have requested this.
