System says my preferred speed is not available at my address but it is!

Hi Guys

I'm a previous member of the forum and ex Plusnet customer and am trying to come back!

I went through the website procedure and it told me that the service I want is not available at my address so I did a speed test and it reported 30Mbps!

Please guys I am getting 30Mbps with BT and I've done my time with them (back to full price)! The database seems screwed up all I want is 30Mbps with you like I had previously?

Regards

@PeterLoftus

It quite possible that your local FTTC cabinet is full and awaiting extra capacity. The @jab1  link might tell you if there’s a waiting list.

If so you can’t just transfer without first giving up the connection, when there’s no guarantee that you will be allocated the connection.

Hey @PeterLoftus,

Have you already created an account with us, or are you holding off until you get some more information on the speeds? It may be best to give our Sales Team a call to confirm what speeds are currently available in your area. For reference, you can reach the team on 0800 432 0080, between the hours of 8AM-8PM from Monday to Friday.

I went to the sales team but got a zero result. I suggested to the lady that I come here to the Forum and she agreed it was the best course of action!

Re: System says my preferred speed is not available at my address but it is!

@PeterLoftus That BTW guide looks strange 'VDSL - Unavailable' makes me wonder. I'm sure Filey isn't that far out in the wilds, and you are not in an FTTP area.

EDIT - on reading that BTW page, they must have some problem - 'cabinet not available for FTTC due to engineering works' - I'd keep my eyes on it to change to 'available' or 'full'(or whatever the term is.

Re: System says my preferred speed is not available at my address but it is!

Jab1 the issue for me is that I'm only asking for what I had before! It seems to me that the computer says no is all the sales team is interested in and the local cabinet is full and if I try to move I'll probably loose my present 30Mbps connection.

Re: System says my preferred speed is not available at my address but it is!

@PeterLoftus

This is a strange one. Are you certain you're on FTTC with BT?

The following web link provides information on Exchanges - you can search by phone number or be Exchange. Using it for Filey (using Lockup Locality then clicking through to "All Fibre Cabinets") I cannot see a Cabinet called P20

https://www.telecom-tariffs.co.uk/codelook.htm

PlusNet will not be showing FTTC as available for order as when their system checks it's not shown as available.

@PeterLoftus

If the Cabinet was full it would be showing "Waiting List"

Re: System says my preferred speed is not available at my address but it is!

@bmc I'm purposefully not saying what my reading of the situation is technically. All I'm saying is I did a speedtest this morning and registered 30Mbps download and 10Mbps upload and I want that to remain on Plusnet!

Thanks for your intrest!

@PeterLoftus It may do, when the 'engineering works' mentioned in my edit are completed.
