Switching from old provider (Sky) to Plusnet broadband

Hello Plusnet Team,

I am looking to switch to Plusnet full fibre broadband.

I am currently on a contract with Sky full fibre broadband which ends on Sunday 25th May 2025 but will continue as they have extended my offers for another 12 months. My Sky offers have been added automatically and there's no new contract.

When is the best time to order Plusnet broadband so the activation date matches up with the Sky broadband contract end date?

Do I need to contact Sky broadband about switching provider and cancelling contract? I believe everything is coordinated between the two providers when switching but want to check?

Thanks.

Kind Regards,

Calum J Proctor

Re: Switching from old provider (Sky) to Plusnet broadband

Do you mean 25th May 2025 or 2026?

With the OTS service, it should only take no more that a week. But with a new provider you can? specific a start date.
Was a member for years, but moved from PN fttc to fttp from an AltNet. Getting 940Mb up and down. Happy to stay on here and try to help others. 

Re: Switching from old provider (Sky) to Plusnet broadband

25th May 2025.

I signed an 18-month contract with Sky Broadband to start on 25th November 2023 and the contract was to end on 25th May 2025.

I got an email from Sky about 3 weeks ago saying they have extended my offers for another 12 months. "Offers have been added automatically and there’s no new contract." and the new offer end date is 25th May 2026 so assume I can still change provider to Plusnet without an early exit-fee as original contract ends on 25th May 2025 and can start Plusnet broadband on 26th May 2025.

Just wondering when the best time is to order Plusnet broadband and switch so activation date match up as best as possible?

Re: Switching from old provider (Sky) to Plusnet broadband

Hi @CJPROCTOR10 thank you for taking the time to contact us thorough our Community Forum.

With regards to the switch over, you are correct the One Touch Switch system is handling all switches between suppliers saving time and hassle having to contact multiple companies.

"I am currently on a contract with Sky full fibre broadband which ends on Sunday 25th May 2025 but will continue as they have extended my offers for another 12 months. My Sky offers have been added automatically and there's no new contract

Do I need to contact Sky broadband about switching provider and cancelling contract? "

Without knowing the type of offer, I would check the email advising of this and if it does not clearly state that there are no early termination charges, I would contact Sky just to clarify the situation.

Please let me know if there's anything else we may look into for you

@Ssvjatkins thank you for reaching out regarding the issue with the reward offer, I'm sorry to hear you haven't received it yet. This has now been passed to the Rewards Escalation team, as soon as they respond I will be back in touch with you, just to put your mind at ease, I can confirm that the offer is applied to the account.

What is your justification for this claim?  Based on your other post, you have only just become a PN customer and your only gripe is that you have not yet received you money back email ... which is not due until 30 days after go live.
