Just an update in case anyone in a similar situation finds this useful,

Whilst the ADSL was still active I discovered that I could configure my router (TP-LINK TD-W9980) with an inactive VDSL connection, alongside the active ADSL connection.

Having done that, the router then auto-sensed when the connection changed from ADSL to VDSL once the Fibre upgrade was complete and connected without issue.

I was notified about the Fibre upgrade being completed by an email telling me my upload speed had been changed to 2MB which is the speed included in my new Fibre Unlimitrd package.

Thanks for the feedback Sam, I've passed this on to see if we can provide more of an informative message to customers.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.
