Re: Open order date - DSL Checker?

BTW: When I setup after the change over - if I do the following (I'll post under this) will I be able to choose what connects to

2.4ghz and 5ghz? There are some things that aren't  5ghz compatible and I don't want the router deciding that they are.  Also, will the router broadcast both so that I can see them and connect to the strongest signal. Advanced Settings.
Tap on Wireless.
Choose 5GHz tab.
Change 'Sync with 2.4Ghz' to No.
Change the name of the 'Wireless SSID'
Save the changes.

Crickey. I don't know what's gone wrong with the formatting on that post.

Re: Open order date - DSL Checker?

@Tone24

You do need change the name of the 5g SSID - a lot of people simply add _5 to the name to signify 5g. As your router will then have two SSID's both will be broadcast though the 5g one will only be visible to devices with 5g. You can then decide which network each device uses by choice.

While your in the router settings you may want to change the Blue light setting to "dim" (or whatever the lower setting is!!!).

Hi @Tone24

Should do yeah!

If you follow the steps it should make the router broadcast both frequencies - I'd suggest renaming the 5Ghz one (maybe just thrown a 5G on the end of the SSID) so that you can differentiate the two radio signals on your WiFi connection lists.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

MoR

Re: Open order date - DSL Checker?

Maybe I'm worrying too much, so to speak, but I didn't received an email from Plusnet saying the changeover will be today. Reading through the forum - it appears that others always receive an email telling them that the they will be switched over to FTTC the next day?

Re: Open order date - DSL Checker?

Hi Adam. Thanks for that. I just wanted to make sure that it was going to happen today. I'm off today, but I will stay in so that I can change everything  over as soon as it's live. Cheers.

Re: Open order date - DSL Checker?

Thanks for the shout, Adam.

All up and running. You forget just how many things you have to reconnect.

Just one thing. I know DLM has to do its work, but an upload speed of 4.4 seems rather low even at this early stage. My download speeds are currently around the 37Mbps mark - so approximately what should I expect the upload speed to be?

Re: Open order date - DSL Checker?

You should be seeing speeds of about 10mbps on the upstream. Did you notice the 4.4mbps upstream over WiFi? If you did it would be a good idea to see what that looks like over a wired connection to the router.

Re: Open order date - DSL Checker?

I'm using the Ethernet cable to the router, Adam.
