I've just switched across from BT, and I can tell you that the new Smart Hub has acquired a terrible reputation on their forum.  If you're getting one, make sure it's on the latest firmware.

Early ones would drop out on the wireless, ethernet or internet.  Some suffer from the "green light of death" where they get stuck on green during their booting process, and will never recover.

I'm sure there are duffers out there; mine's been rock-solid (although they may now be famous last words...!).
