Re: Newbie question to full fibre

@krusty

Where multiple FTTP services are concerned I believe one fibre can deliver 4 different channels / services.  From Google …

multiple internet services can run over a single Full Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) connection by having a multi-port Optical Network Terminal (ONT) installed by the provider, replacing a single-port ONT. This allows different Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to provision their services on separate ports of the ONT. It's important to check with your ISP and potential secondary providers to confirm they support provisioning services on a multi-port ONT and to order it correctly to avoid an unnecessary new fibre installation

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

So I have took your advice and gone with AA on a 1 month contract but just for installation see if OR can do it. The online ordering system said it was up to me to cease the current provider manually. Fingers crossed.

They are virtual paths to each port. Multiport onts are preferable to multiple ont and cbt installs.

it may sort out a major issue for you. if you do get fttp  it may be worth looking at last year's BH deals (adding £3pm) and seeing if its cheaper than now or if it is worth staying with AA till oct. (which would be 2 months)

Re: Newbie question to full fibre

Just as a point of interest (or not, as the case may be, but irrelevant in this case), those of us who had FTTP installed in the early days of blown fibre, in addition to having a four-port ONT, actually have four individual colour coated fibres present, so three spare coiled up inside the CSP.

Edit: typo

What are BH deals? I see PN are giving £115 cashback on Topcashback but deal ends soon. AA is quite expensive not knowing how much I use in a month I have gone for 115/20 unlimited @ £47. If my use is less than 1TB I will downgrade or possibly up the speed at 1TB.

Re: Newbie question to full fibre

Well my original Online order which was cancelled due to affecting phone has risen from the dead and is live. Today I had a visit from OR and he tried rodding my drive but found a blockage leading to the street network. So it will have to be dug up and ducted.

But also today I received an email from OR on behalf of Plusnet with appointment date so rang them up to make sure the order is actually closed.

Not sure who sent OR bod today Plusnet or AA, trying to clarify with AA by email at the moment.

Re: Newbie question to full fibre

That looks to have been us.

For some reason, our order wasn't cancelled. We've raised it to Openreach and getting it cancelled down.

@Gandalf

Many thanks I have been in contact with the OR CEOs dept. and they have said what you said. They gave me the option to cancel PN or AA order but I have told them to transfer work over to AA. So if you could make sure everything is cancelled from your end that would be great.

Re: Newbie question to full fibre

I  am seeing the attached message which says I can swap to PN does that mean it will swap my Andrews and Arnold fibre line without affecting my DSL/Phone line and no engineer visit?

Re: Newbie question to full fibre

Well I have signed up again on the strength of the screen shot above saying its a remote switch and no engineer visit required. Picked the 15th for switch over and AA has been informed via One touch switching so hope it goes smoothly. Smiley

Re: Newbie question to full fibre

Thanks for giving it another go.

Yeah we're just taking over the active FTTP service from A&A and should complete on 15/09/25.
