New Router?

Hi

I phoned last Thursday, and upgraded my fibre package for a faster one, and entered a new contract.

I notice that the one email I had said there's a new router on it's way to you.

Is that correct?

Nothing shown up here yet, and the speed appears to be the same as always.

Running on a 5 year old BT modem and Technicolor router at present.

I'm not impatient, (well OK I am Smiley) just wanted to know if one is on it's way.

Re: New Router?

Fix

Hiya, thanks for reaching out.

Sorry for the delay with upgrading your service, unfortunately it doesn't look like we've placed the upgrade order automatically. I've just got that in place now and it should complete tomorrow before midnight.

I've also ordered a new modem/router now which you should receive within the next few days, although my own opinion is that if your existing equipment works OK I'd personally carry on using it. If it isn't broken don't fix it springs to mind Smiley (Assuming that your existing router/modem works well of course)

That said let us know how it goes tomorrow and if you do decide to give the new router a go.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: New Router?

Thanks for the reply.

I'll try the new router, if only because it'll solve a bit of a mess with the wiring and separate modem / router units ( I assume the new one is one combined unit) I'll keep the old one though as a spare.

Mind you I do tend to agree with the "If it ain't broke" thing.

I'll be back to let you know how it goes.

Cheers!

Re: New Router?

No problem, I agree it'll be a lot tidier with the all in one modem router.

Re: New Router?

Just checked the speed.at Speedtest.net I'm getting 44.64 mbps down, and 11.43 up.

That's great thanks! Thumbs_Up

No router yet obviously. I'll report back when I get it.

Re: New Router?

Router came this morning. Quick delivery thanks.

Simple setup. I'm reasonable techie, but it'd be simple for pretty well all I'd say.

Passwords changed, and existing stuff on wireless updated.

All running very nicely. (and tidier!)

Speeds are  47.37 / 10.4 mbps. Upload was faster to start with but dropped back a fraction. No problem anyway.

Could be my imagination, but there seems to be a bit more "snap" in the response when you update a page or whatever. Certainly is with the wireless.

Thanks for the help given here.
