Re: Is My Full Fibre Order Delayed ?

Update.. Today got another confirmation email and text from Openreach confirming tomorrows install, I even got Plusnet support stating that the install is for tomorrow and no more external ducting is required after all, so seems like whatever miscommunication was going on has been resolved, all i need to do now is wait for tomorrow 1-6 and hopefully things actually happen, if the Engineer can put the ONT in the hallway and I can get up and running. I will report the outcome when I can.

Re: Is My Full Fibre Order Delayed ?

Fix

Update.. Well good news and bad news, the good news is I have full fibre connected at 1000Mb. When tested with laptop and Ethernet I get 980Mb+ so all good there, Wi-Fi in living room on laptop got to around 500Mb so not bad there either, but the rest of the house is not great my sons bedroom upstairs only gets around 100Mb on Wi-Fi on his PS5, which is better than what he was getting on FTTC via Ethernet which ran down into the hallway that was only around the 50Mb mark, but its nowhere near speeds he could get if downstairs or when back on Ethernet.

The bad news the installer wasn't from Openreach but one of their contractors and wouldn't put the ONT in the hallway where we wanted it to go, he came with a van no ladders or anything so had no intention of doing anything other than putting it in the living room.

He made all kinds of excuses that it wasn't possible to run the fibre cable round to the front of the house and wouldn't budge no matter that I told him it's been done in other installs, in the end I just relented and had it put in the living room otherwise he was going to leave without doing anything, and it's been close to five months as it is.

The Hub 2 was also moved into the living room to connect to the ONT for the time being as I don't have Ethernet cable long enough to go into the hallway, I have ordered one and my Brother-in-law has a masonry drill, so going to drill a hole close to where the ONT is and have the Ethernet cable go over the roof then drill into the hallway and have the Hub 2 moved back where it belongs so my son can have his Ethernet cable reconnected and better Wi-Fi for the rest of the house.

Overall, I'm glad it's over and everything is working despite the ONT not being where we wanted it to be.

@Terranova667

Good to hear you have a Full Fibre connection.

Running external ethernet cable is one way of getting better signals around the house. Just make sure you use good quality external cable.

Re: Is My Full Fibre Order Delayed ?

Just thought I would give one final update, I got the Ethernet cable at the weekend but brother-in-law wasn't well so it got done yesterday, was able to drill a hole close to the ONT and thread the cable outside, it was going to go over the roof but figured it would be easier just to tack it to the side of the house and round to the front basically the route we wanted the fibre to go that the engineer wouldn't do.

So did that and drilled a hole into the hallway and connected to the Hub 2 that was moved back, now have decent Wi-Fi for the majority of the house and my eldest is connected back on Ethernet in his upstairs bedroom and getting 900Mb+ for both Playstation and PC so happy days all-round.
