Re: Install full fibre upstairs?

I mean plug sockets for the power. There is 2 right next to the upstairs phone line. Downstairs there is none on that whole area.
I tried to add pics but it has no option to add. Just says file attachment limits.

Re: Install full fibre upstairs?

I guess, as mentioned by stevo7 that the best solution to a 'downstairs' ONT to upstairs is indeed an inside or outside routed ethernet cable connecting the ONT to the router. I've done that, works a peach.

@Ukstevo7

I thought you meant power sockets - just wanted to check.

To add an image inline click on the reply button and then, where required, click on the icon that looks like PN Icon.JPG

When added hit enter to move to a new line if desired. To add an attachment use the paperclip below the reply box - don't know about file sizes though.

You just have to wait and see what happens of the day of install. Do let us know the outcome.

Ok so the diplomatic version of the conversation should go ...

'Yes I know you really hoped to put it stright through the living room wall, but sorry there's no power anywhere near that.  The best I can offer you is to put the CSP there and run up the wall and into the 'spare room' (aka Gaming zone) which has lots of mains sockets.  I have cleared it for you

By the way how many choccy digestives for you, 5 sugars or 6 in the tea ?"

Worst case as noted you will have to do the sealant and upper cable clips.

They will need a decent bit of space around the external wall to work fitting the ONT.  The (default) ONT power supply only has a 1m lead.

Around here there's some overhead feeds, dropped down to the ground for the CSP then the 'house' fibre is run back up and around the back of the house at high level.  However those would all have had 'work at height' folks to install it due to the overhead feed.

A late thought - can you post an image of the external box which you think is the incoming copper cable.. Show the cable coming out of the ground.
