How long does connection to services usually take?

Good afternoon all,

I signed up for Plusnet on the 29th August, and I was wondering how long it usually takes to be connected to landline and broadband as I've been given a date of the 23rd/24th Sept, nearly a month later.

Seems a bit of a long stretch with nothing especially as i paid for 12mths line rental up front.

any info would be appreciated.
