Im told i can now get fibre through the Openreach checker. How can i upgrade?

Are we talking FTTC or FTTP here?

Edit : If it's FTTC then Login to PlusNet and look at your account. Somewhere there will be the update page.

From looking at the Openreach website here it doesn't seem fibre is available as your line is still exchange only I'm afraid.

Records here also don't show any FTTC or FTTP availability either.

Where are you seeing fibre availability?
