ADSL to Fibre switchover day: how much downtime can we expect?

We’re upgrading from Plusnet ADSL to fibre.

Q: Does anyone know realistically how much downtime we’re likely to get on the switchover day?

The reason is, is that like so many of us, we’re working from home and we’re on various zoom and teams calls etc. which we don’t want to suddenly drop out of with no warning.

I know that Openreach will need to switch us over to fibre their side.

I’m just wondering if the time given for this on the day tends to be fairly accurate.

I can only speak from my experience. Mid afternoon on the day of my changeover, my ADSL broadband went down and was back up within ... 10 minutes or so ... on fibre.

I imagine that any local difficulty will impact that though, so I don't think you can't really take it as a rule.

As this is an upgrade to Fibre rather than a line takeover, it's unlikely that there'll be any prolonged downtime and should be sorted pretty quickly. That being said, if there are any issues then please don't hesitate to update the thread on the day and we'll be more than happy to take a look into it with you Smiley
