@oleg33  Welcome to the forum.

I don't know about £70 but if your line was not in use then BT would need to do work in the exchange. This 'new connection charge' is £49.99 even if no work is required in your property.

@oleg33

Either of the following will also result in the installation charge.

Taking over a BT line if the previous 'owner' had cancelled the service rather than arranging for the working service to be transferred to a new person.

If the service is being transferred from a LLU supplier to Plusnet, who use the BT. exchange equipment.

Re: £70 for engineer

Hi @Baldrick1

I moved to a house that had Virgin a few years ago and there was no charge for moving my Plusnet service there although a BT engineer had to connect to the cabinet. Have things changed?

Re: £70 for engineer

I stand corrected. I assume that these are the latest charges:

But it would be very unusual to do work in the exchange on an unused line and then not pay the customer a visit to make sure they are 'live' at their end.

Ever helpful. Grin Sure, I’d love to help you out. Now which way did you come in?

Re: £70 for engineer

We are all surmising, we need Plusnet to come and give us (or the OP privately), the actual reason for the charge.
