openreach thinks i can only get adsl

I've got FTTC with Plusnet but because I'm coming to the end of my contract I'd thought I'd shop around but when I look at the offers on bt.com it says I can only get adsl broadband. I will soon be on a rolling contract with Plusnet which will cost me even more money, anything I can do about this? i would rather do things online then by phone. bit of a coincidence that this happens when my contract is about to end.

@Margaretzx

It’s quite possible that your fibre cabinet is full, hence the non availability until it’s expanded. If there’s a waiting list then if you leave Plusnet the line may be given to someone else.

What does the BTW DSL checker say is available for your number? Post the results making sure you hide your number.

Re: openreach thinks i can only get adsl

@Margaretzx  Its a bit hard to read without the formatting, but as @Baldrick1  suggested, it looks like the cabinet is full.

So if you change suppliers, then it is probable that the first on the waiting list will get your port and you will need to wait for a port to come free before you could get fibre again.

PS, give PN a ring and see what they can offer for a new contract with them, unless you have being having issues.

Re: openreach thinks i can only get adsl

@Margaretzx

Yes, you currently have FTTC with Plusnet. If you change ISP you give up that service and start again with your new ISP. The new ISP can’t offer you fibre unless it’s showing as available. Once your service is stopped with Plusnet it will be shown as available, but if there’s already a waiting list you can’t assume that it will be automatically assigned to you.

I would ring the Plusnet customer options team and negotiate a good deal to stay until capacity improves.

It’s in lines 5 and 6. It gives the upstream and downstream speed ranges followed bu unavailable for both.
