Direct Debit is taken 1 calendar month after the first service goes live.

No direct debit dates are fixed. Plusnet cannot change them ever!
If the service goes live on February 25th then the 25th March should be the first Direct Debit date

Have you double checked with Plusnet that the 25th February is really your live date? Things can go wrong and they might not tell you.

I just checked that last six months and my DD has been normally on the 24th but has varied up to the 28th (Xmas time). So within a few days allowing for weekends/bank holidays

My billing date is the 13th, and I'm informed that the money will be taken from my bank account on the 16th, but it usually leaves my account on the 18th and is credited my PN account the following day. If you are being connected on the 25th, there will be times like Christmas and possibly Spring and/or August Bank Holiday when the money leaves your account later than normal.
Don't forget: "Your minimum term starts on the day your service is up and running or your transfer from another provider has completed (we'll normally send you an email to confirm this)." (Terms and conditions.) Make a note of that date; it will come in handy when you want to work out when your contract ends.
