fibre optic broadband

Guys ive checked my line and it now shows the following....
http://www.broadbandchecker.co.uk/broadband-checker.php
•Your line should be capable of supporting download speeds  up to 16Mb or up to 80000Mb with BT Infinity fibre optic broadband
I was always told I couldn't get fibre optic, so im not sure really Can one of you nice ps staff have a look and see if I can get fibre please ?

Re: fibre optic broadband

The BT Wholesale checker is usually considered to be the 'definitive' one for Fibre availability: https://www.btwholesale.com/pages/static/Community/Broadband_Community/Coverage/ADSL_Availibility_Ch...

Re: fibre optic broadband

Morning St3
I've just carried out a TAGS check on your line and it shows that FTTC is available. Estimated speeds around 70Mbps Upload and 19Mbps download.
If you log into the member centre, you'll be able to change your package and book an engineers appointment. Someone from our provisioning will contact you shortly afterwards to advise of the appointment date.
Hope this helps Smiley

Re: fibre optic broadband

The installation fee is waived however it does cost more for the fibre service and you would have to agree to an 18month contract.
If you have some spare time at the moment, feel free to give our Customer Options team a call on 0800 013 2632. No call queues at the moment so you should get right through. Have your username and password handy. Smiley

Re: fibre optic broadband

just one more quick question, my current phone line comes into my house via an outside pole across the road. Will this still be used or will bt need to dig up my drive to lay cables ?

Re: fibre optic broadband

it all comes down your existing phone line at your house
the only change is that they move the connection for your wire from the normal cab to the fibre cab (simplified before the pedants jump in)

Re: fibre optic broadband

Glad to hear you've ordered it Smiley
Oldjim is right, no further cables need to be laid in your garden etc. It's fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) instead of fibre to the premises.
The wait time can range from 7 working days to several weeks. It all depends on the fibre engineer availability in your local area.
Let me know if you have any other queries!
