Re: change my user name?

Hi there,
I'm afraid not - everything on your account, including your broadband service, etc, is linked to it.

Re: change my user name?

Every single component that is built on your account (there are several) is tied into the username that you signed up with.
In order to change your username, we would have to sign up an additional account, transfer everything over and destroy your current account.  This isn't something that we're prepared to do as it takes a considerable period of time.
If there is a specific reason why you want to do this, there may be a workaround we can suggest.

Re: change my user name?

You could migrate elsewhere & then migrate back as Plusnet always have special offers to up the churn rate.

Re: change my user name?

Good advice from vilefox.

This question seems to occur quite frequently on the forum -
I was pre-warned, but for others not so fortunate -
Could not PN make it clear, whether online or via  the phone sign-up process, that the username is irrevocably tied to to the email address?

Re: change my user name?

Alternatively get yourself something like a gmail web address.
To it properly, you could pay for a domain and someone to host your email.

When you choose your username it states:
Quote
Usernames must be 5 to 16 characters in length, lowercase, with no spaces or special characters, and must start with two letters. This lets you log into our website and forms part of your Plusnet email address. Once you've chosen your username you can't change it.

Re: change my user name?

I signed up on the phone and was given no clue as to  the importance of the user name or of its linkage to the e-mail address  -  which I've regretted ever since Sad

Re: change my user name?

I took a long time choosing an account name - probably my first 20 choices had already been taken.

Re: change my user name?

Agreed, James, if signing up via the website.
However, many posts on the forums, and the experience of my referrals, would suggest that Roberto0151's experience is common when applying by phone.

Re: change my user name?

A possible workaround is (or used to be) to sign up for a Plusnet dial up account with the username you want...  Don't know if this still works though.
Personally, as mentioned previously, I'd use this as the kick to move to an email solution that's ISP independent.
