can someone tell me what this means?

10/04/2013 - Unlimited £39.00(upon cancellation) Complete -
- - Cessation charge £30.00(upon cancellation) Activated
i want to know how much it would cost to end my contract with plusnet for example today (minus any call charges etc if any)

Re: can someone tell me what this means?

You'd be charged £39 to cancel your contract and a further £30 if you dind't migrate using a MAC.  The cessation fee is charged by BT for removing broadband from your telephone line.

Re: can someone tell me what this means?

There still seems to be some ambiguity about whether you need a MAC to migrate to Sky and if the cessation fee is payable.  I think the answer is that a MAC isn't needed and the fee isn't payable.
It was pointed out to PN in 2010 that there description of the cessation charge refers to migrations not using a MAC as being chargeable...

Hopefully someone from PN will be along to give the definitive answer Smiley

Re: can someone tell me what this means?

i didnt really give plusnet anything when i went from sky to them so id think the same applies the other way.
with this in mind if im correct then i should only have to pay £39 if i were to change it right now ?

Re: can someone tell me what this means?

Plusnet would need notice which you give by contacting the cancellations team and they will supply a MAC. It's up to Sky whether they use it.
There could also be profit forgone charges for (eg) activation and a router if within the minimum period.

of course when you do ring for your Mac - even if you don't need one - you may get an offer which is too good to refuse  Grin

even if i do i wont take it, rather pay more for reliability. i use my internet a lot and need reliability and frankly plusnet doesnt cut the mustard. had problems since i joined and even if they resolve them they come back again.

Sky may use different equipment at your exchange but other than that the copper cabling would be exactly the same.
Is there anything we can do to help at all?
