activation day today. does it just mean bt disconnect broadband?

Hi,
Supposed to switch from BT to plusnet today and all that has happened is the broadband has been disconnected.
It's been off most of the day.  My account info on plusnet still has it set on checkingline stats which it has been on since the day I signed up.
How long should switch over take?
Or am I yet another bt to plusnet customer who just gets disconnected and spends the next month trying to sort it out.
