Which account?

I currently have a
PlusNet Broadband Your Way Option 3
account.
Is this a legacy account?  Is there a product that has superceeded this?
I would like to reevaluate the product that I am using and make sure that it is what I really need.
Is there somewhere that I can see comparisions on this.
Thanks,
Paul

Re: Which account?

Yes it is
Here is a comparison
http://usergroup.plus.net/prodcomp1.php
Assuming you use a chunk of your included paid for usage then Extra 60GB included would be the option

Re: Which account?

@Oldjim  Thanks for the comparator
To sumarise what I am looking for is the following
More upload capacity - 832Kbit/s upstream
Principal usage is
Browsing & Email
FTP (External mainly)
I really want to upgrade without paying anynore than I do currently for my legacy product.
I'm on a market 1 exchange unfortnately
Currently consuming just over 10Gb/month.
Any ideas please

Re: Which account?

Is your exchange 21CN/ADSL2 enabled and what are your router stats - speeds, attenuation and noise margin
Also how much do you pay excluding referrals

Re: Which account?

A mixed bag
You will save money on Extra
Unless your usage can be dropped under 10GB Value won't work as every month you exceed 10GB it will cost the same as Extra
There are two ways to get the higher upload speeds - Premium addon (I think that is what it is called) and from memory it costs something around £5 per month.
ADSL2 with an uncapped upstream (no extra charge and available on Value and Extra) which may be available next year
It is unlikely to increase your downstream speeds much and in fact uncapping the upstream may reduce it. although you should still be able to hold your present 3,500kbps profile

Re: Which account?

So just to clarify
When I can access ADSL2+ (from when my exchange is upgraded) I can get the higher upload speed as standard in the Extra package at £17.99?
The only downside I can see is that there sems to be more traffic shaping applied than on the legacy products.

Re: Which account?

Correct although you have to ask for it to be uncapped
You could of course bite the bullet and pay £1 £3 more for Plusnet Pro 20GB with no traffic shaping http://www.plus.net/residential/broadband/pro.shtml which also gives you the higher upload speeds

Re: Which account?

Max Premium (832kbps upload) is available from trials.plus.net and costs £7.83 per month. That could be added to both BBYW3 and Extra until ADSL2+ comes along.
I assume you are paying £19.99 per month for BBYW3 whereas Extra is £2 cheaper. However as you say there is additional shaping on the new product. The most significant one for the usage you mentioned is probably on external FTP downloads from midday onwards and in the evening.

Well it is actually £3.00, although my first motivation was to reduce costs not to increase them I might consider

....which also gives you the higher upload speed

So I could get 832kbps upload on Pro?

Re: Which account?

Whoops - slight error there  Embarrassed
Yes with Pro you can also have higher upload speeds - I am not sure exactly what speed you would get but basically whatever your line will support

Re: Which account?

Plusnet Pro does not include Max Premium - you'd still have to pay the extra £7.83 if your exchange is not 21CN WBC enabled.
