Can someone guide me through what to set, I've tried to set it but didn't appear to work
many thanks

Re: When I reach my max download allocation

go to here https://portal.plus.net/data_transfer_watch/
and set it like this
Note - this doesn't cut you off it just stops you getting charged extra

Re: When I reach my max download allocation

I wanted to set that up for myself too a couple of days ago, but I'm perturbed by the message (also shown in your screenshot Jim) saying that I shouldn't change the maximum amount until my next billing date. I'm confused by that – does it mean that I shouldn't change it more than once per billing period? Or will the message magically vanish when my new billing month starts? Huh

Re: When I reach my max download allocation

Damned if I know - I ignored it as I have only made one change and it wasn't in the current billing month

Re: When I reach my max download allocation

I suspect what that message really means is not to set your maximum spend below what you have *currently* spent (if extra has been added). When a new billing month starts the extra spend will be zero so it's OK to set your maximum as required then (eg to zero).
Also it's probably not a good idea to change the value (downwards) when usage is close to an additional-charge threshold, parts of the billing system might be out of step with others for a while. This is all speculation on my part but it's the approach I'd use.
When the revamped tool was introduced I changed my spend limit several times to check it out and nothing untoward happened on my account.

Re: When I reach my max download allocation

Could anyone from Plusnet shed some light on the mysterious message please? I want to make sure I don't get stung for the barmy £5 if I go 1kB over at the end of the month, but at the same time, despite the reports in this thread of nothing untoward happening, I am scared of breaking my account more than it already is. Huh

Re: When I reach my max download allocation

HI journeys,
I've just checked you account and it's definitely set not to go over your package price.
As far as the wording goes I'm getting the guys responsible for the application to give me an explanation for it.

Hi journeys,
With regard to the text on this page I have raised a problem (63306) to either have this removed or defined, so will post more information as soon as I know more.

Re: When I reach my max download allocation

Have you managed to get anywhere with this Jojo? Reason I'm in a bit of a hurry is because I want to make sure I don't go over 10GB (and get charged for doing so) this billing month, which ends in a few days. I'm thinking that based on the other responses I might risk setting the cap anyway, but the number of issues I have with billing means I'm a bit nervous about doing something that some bold warning text is telling me not to do. Huh

Hi Be3G,
If you want me to set it, I can do it for you this end now if you like?

Yeah go on then; at least then if everything goes wrong I can blame you. Grin
