Thinking of changing ISP

Hi,
I started using Plusnet back in 2000 but in August 2009 I upgrade my service to "Plusnet Unlimited"  + Home Phone.
Having never had any hardware from plusnet in the previous nine years I decided to have one of the thompson routers at the same time.
I'm thinking of moving my phone and broadband to another ISP will there be any charges for the migration?
If there is a charge for the router can I send it back?

Many thanks

Re: Thinking of changing ISP

Thanks for the response.
Do you know when plusnet will rollout 20mb broadband?
My exchange can provide upto 20mb for O2 and Be.
Thanks again.

Re: Thinking of changing ISP

O2 and BE are probably on LLU which is where the have their own equipment in the exchange

check here for your exchange and PN  http://community.plus.net/21cn-exchange-availability/

Re: Thinking of changing ISP

Hi there,
Your exchange doesn't have ADSL2+ yet, so if you buy broadband from any BT Wholesale ISP the maximum you will get is 8Mb.

Re: Thinking of changing ISP

out of curiousity?
what speed do you acheive with plusnet, and what are your router stats?
im only asking, because if they are quite low - sub 4meg or so, you will hardly see any improvement in speed.
HOWEVER if you are on an o2 mobile phone contract, Homephone + standard broadband will save you £5/month over PN Premium + Home phone.

Re: Thinking of changing ISP

There are my router stats.
ADSL Link                 Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 8128 kbps         448 kbps
Line Attenuation                 13 db                 3 db
Noise Margin                   6 db             27 db
I'm getting no collisions or errors when my connection has been up for more than 1000 hours.
I'm getting about 6.7 on a sellection of broadband speed test sites.

It seems to me I have a good connection.
As I've said before I'm thinking of moving to O2. The deal they have at the moment seems hard to beat. 10 a month for upto 20mb unlimited and home phone for 11.50 for anytime calling and I can just switch my orange pay as you go to O2 pay and go.
It seems a no brainer. i'm just hoping the quality of my connection doesn't suffer!

You need to confirm that Be/O2 have LLU services in your exchange.
If not O2 can only offer their "Access" service which has various constraints that means it would probably be little different to staying where you are.
With O2 LLU you would probably run about 2.5 times faster (up and down).
