Switching to EE can I keep plusnet email

I currently have a BT landline and plusnet internet (through the telephone line) - I know, could have done something better sooner!  BT have told me that I'm in line to be switched to digital soon. I don't want to lose my plusnet internet and especially don't want to lose my plusnet emails (I have not been migrated yet).  Plusnet offer seems to be to switch to EE for broadband and phone (I hope this this could be basic - FTTC - not fibre - FTTP - as I'm expecting to move house soon so don't want the hassle of putting in fibre at this point).

So, if I move to EE can I keep my plusnet email address and all my old emails?

@AlbertRoss

I don't suppose you know where you're moving to?

You could ask PN to put you on a SOGEA service (FTTP without the phone). This would cancel the BT landline.

As soon as you have confirmation of the phone line cease you could port your number to an idependant VOIP supplier. If need be your account with them could be set up in advance with a generic number.

@AlbertRoss If you move to EE - or any other ISP - before  you email is migrated, you will lose it - there is no way to retain it if you leave Plusnet.

Re: Switching to EE can I keep plusnet email

hmm..

1 is there a way of finding out when I'm going to be migrated?

2 is there an easy way to archive email on plusnet?

3 is there anyway of staying with plusnet without installing fibre?

[to be clear the move to digital is likely to happen before the house move, but it's knowing I'm moving house soon that means I don't want to bother getting fibre installed now]

@AlbertRoss

(1) Sadly, no.

(2) Do you use webmail only, or POP/IMAP on a mail client?

(3) What product/service are you currently on?

If you are on FTTC, you could ask to be moved to SOGEA (BB without a phone) - you would have 30 days from completion of the move to transfer your number to a VOIP provider.

@AlbertRoss

Can't answer the email questions but you don't pay to get Full Fibre installed.

However, you are required to sign a new (probably 24 month) contract. If your new property has FF available then it's a straight forward house move. Not certian what happens if only SOGEA is available.

You could phone the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 and ask.

Re: Switching to EE can I keep plusnet email

An even longer hmm..

I thought I hadn't been migrated, but then decided perhaps I'd better check, and logging into Greenby found I could, and my email was there!  I didn't realise because I hadn't received emails telling me I had been migrated to the address I generally use (which is the one I use most of the time, and where my plusnet payment details, notices, etc., get sent).  The notices about migration appear only in your postmaster mailbox ([username]@[username].plus.com) - and they're all there when I bothered to look! Obviously I should look at the postmaster mailbox more regularly, but it's easy to forget about.

So, the emails on Greenby will carry on working whatever my home internet arrangements are or aren't and will carry on for a couple of years, as I understand it.  So, feel a bit stupid but perhaps I'm not the only one who hasn't realised they've been migrated.

Re: Switching to EE can I keep plusnet email

@AlbertRoss Sadly, the communication about which mailbox receives the migration notices has been somewhat lacking - I only found that my 'postmaster' address had been renamed and used for the purpose as it was the only one I had successfully added to my iPad.
