Switching from 76mb to 38mb Unlimited Fibre

I joined Plusnet in April 2014- signing up for the Unlimited fibre broadband upto 76mb service at £19.99 a month which at the time was on offer at £12.50 a month for the first 9 months. So, my monthly broadband payment will go up to the full price of £19.99 in January 2015. My question is - could I  downgrade to the Unlimited Fibre 38mb service at £14.99 a month - as I can only get  max speed of 35mb with my current upto 76mb service. If I can switch, will this effect my 18 month contract ? And also can I request the switch via this message board rather than doing it over the phone?

We'd really say that you should contact our Customer Options Team (also known as cancellations) to request any changes, the alternative is to use the 'product change' link when logged in to our website. Switch products would likely result in a new contract, but you can discuss this with us if you were to call in.

Last time I checked you couldn't downgrade using the 'product change' link - Has this changed?

Re: Switching from 76mb to 38mb Unlimited Fibre

Many thanks for replying. I have been doing some reading around on this matter and it looks like I can switch between products without it effecting my contract.  See here:

It seems unequivocally, unless I'm missing something?
And with regards to doing the downgrade via a request in the Plusnet forum -  I found this post. Posted by the member "Mark_" on 20/10/14:

I would be grateful if a member of the Plusnet team on here could confirm this. And if I am correct in my interpretation of the rules, regarding the downgrade not effecting my 18 month contract,  possibly provision the downgrade, via the forum, to the 38mb fibre service ( priced at £14.99) on my next billing date (08/12/14) ?
Many thanks.

Re: Switching from 76mb to 38mb Unlimited Fibre

Hi,
Yes, sorry you are correct, you shouldn't have a new contract for downgrading to the other fibre product.
Realistically we shouldn't be doing this from a request via the forum as that goes against our processes.
Do you want this to happen on your next billing date, or the first one after your discounts expire?

Re: Switching from 76mb to 38mb Unlimited Fibre

OK, just to confirm you'll lose the discount you currently have as this is classed as a downgrade.

Re: Switching from 76mb to 38mb Unlimited Fibre

I take it that will mean my next bill date (08/12/14) will show my fibre broadband priced at £14.99 instead of the current discounted price of £12.50 ?
That will be OK.

Many thanks
