Fair enough, @Dan_the_Van - you are more clued up on this than me as I have never seen a Hub2, let alone used one in bridge mode - I went from a TG582N straight to a Fritz!Box 7530. 😀

I worked for 27 years as an electronics engineer in a broadcast TV station. Being retired from there over 9 years you soon lose contact with things, although broadband was not my subject. However research is my skill, plus help from here

@briston

Do you know where you are moving to? So long as it is served by OpenReach you'd be able to transfer your account. Do you use PN email? It goes if you close the account.

Getting rid of the phone now causes no problems for you and is one less for PN to worry about when the time comes to shutter the service.

You could try the PlusNet Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 to see what they say about things.

Re: Speed with telephone line v without

You can still log into the Hub but you need to connect a wired standalone PC (not connected to your home network) to one of the free LAN ports (not the WAN)

As DHCP is turned off on the Hub you will need set the PC IP address manually to say a 192.168.1.10 mask 255.255.255.0 no gateway required. This assumes the Hub IP address was the default before switching to bridge mode.

Then connect the Hub using http://192.168.1.254

The Technical log is found >Advanced settings >Technical Log

You will notice the date/time of the hub is incorrect, this is normal as there is no access to a time server in bridge mode.

Re: Speed with telephone line v without

Don't know where we are moving. As for losing the Plusnet email that does not worry me as I have a domain name through onus, directing emails to Plusnet. So the domain name will remain and I just direct to a new account/provider.
Not worried about landline phone, have not used it for years.
The whole point of retaining out current fibre plus is potential cost when we move
