Re: Request for staff member

I think Keeef has the occasional disconnect which we've been unable to resolve.  It's well below the fault threshold, so there isn't much we could do, but a sensible conversation on here might resolve it.

Re: Request for staff member

In all seriousness though, we don't want to have customers frustrated with us.  Obviously we've done something wrong here to annoy Keeef so much, so it would be good to resolve it amicably.

Re: Request for staff member

I've had a recent experience which was relevant to that topic. A couple of weeks ago I was getting a loss of sync every couple of hours which were recorded by the router but which did not result in a loss of PPP and were not seen as a session drop by Plusnet. Other than a delay of about 15 seconds they were otherwise totally transparent and the everything kept working.

Re: Request for staff member

But are you sure it wasn't just a Modem logging oddity?
Anyway back on topic, he's probably still got his Bell wire connected to his A wire. Have you forgotten about this thread where this was my last post http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,109340.msg936081.html#msg936081

Re: Request for staff member

No, not a logging oddity, it was a definite loss of sync, apart from the entries in the router log, the DSL Connection went down and the DSL Uptime reset (I ended up with an Internet Services uptime much longer than the DSL connection). The Internet light went totally out for several seconds on the router. I'm absolutely 100% certain you can have a loss of sync without it showing on Plusnet's visual radius graphs.
Edit: That was on 20CN - I haven't seen the same since I moved to 21CN.

DSLAM/MSAN (20CN/21CN) fault perhaps?

Re: Request for staff member

Where's Keeef gone, he's off-line, perhaps his connection has dropped again, or he's checking his wiring is not connected to the mains.
Edit: perhaps his forum login timed out after 60 minutes?
Edit2: typo

Re: Request for staff member

The line looks pretty stable right now on our side.  No disconnections for 16 days

Re: Request for staff member

So, the question we were getting stuck on was:
"It is possible that some of the drops that you are seeing are wireless related, so it might be worth trying using a different wireless channel to see if this improves things for you at all."
Our agent was suggesting that you might be seeing more drops than we are because your laptop or router was dropping the wireless connection, rather than the actual broadband line being dropped.  We haven't seen a disconnection on our side in quite a while, so if you've experienced any drops recently it could be that.
Here is a quick view of your connection over the last month:

Re: Request for staff member

To check the point I was making, if it's a TG582 (may be the same on earlier Technicolor routers) go to http://192.168.1.254/cgi/b/bb/?be=0&l0=2&l1=-1 and look t the uptime for the DSL Connection. Hopefully that should be around 15 days or so.

We've established you're not using wireless
so it's not wireless drops.

Re: Request for staff member

If it's not the point I've made and it's not wireless it's most likely to be an issue with your Ethernet cabling or your PC.

I can assure you non of us work from the same crib sheet.

[quote plusnet]
It sounds a lot like an issue with wireless connectivity if this is how you connect,
but we have not yet received a reply confirming if you connect this way.

Re: Request for staff member

That's a perfect example of what is annoying us - you've not said anything new in this post than you said in the reply two before.
