Renew my contract today, will the first price increase be next March ?

As title. Logging on to my account, with 7 months left of my 19 month contract, I'm being offered this:-

Is it really the case the first increase will be next March 31st and not this coming one ?

(Yes, I know it also means conversion to SOGEA)

@Mark63

If this is the deal offered and accepted then it must be honoured by both parties Just keep a copy. What does the confirmation email/ticket say?

I’m on the same speed (FTTP) and paying £25.49 (from December ’23). Actually the equivalent of £22.36 when you include the £75 gift card.

Recently had an email telling me it will increase by £2.01 from 31st March so it looks like this year’s increase is built in to your price ?

I think these days the police training advice applies here:

A  accept nothing.

B Believe no-one

C check everything

@Mark63

Then ring the Customer Options Team on 0800 013 2632 (this number is normally answered quite quickly). Get their confirmation and ask if they can improve on it. You never know if you don't ask!

Re: Renew my contract today, will the first price increase be next March ?

Well, I've rung them, and they said there would still be an increase on March 31 if I took that deal.

However, I haggled a 'solution' whereby I've just renewed and will be paying after March 31st in total slightly less than I'm paying now, so all good !

Bye Bye landline, hello SoGEA !

Re: Renew my contract today, will the first price increase be next March ?

@Mark63  - So I have had this confirmed as accurate from the comms sent out internally.

"New acquisitions and upgrades from 1 March 2024 will have their first plan increase in April
2025 (but will receive out-of-bundle and add-on increases in April 2024)"

In other words, update after 1 March 2024 and you won't get that increase later that month on the 31 March 2024.

Hope that helps?

Thanks James, that's not what your agent said when I renewed this morning, so it will only be a bonus if my charges don't increase at the end of this month !?

Re: Renew my contract today, will the first price increase be next March ?

Perhaps it's his oversite. Me and my colleagues have re-read the internal docs about it and I've copied it from there so I would be really surprised if you do get the increase. We can always revert to that if something incorrect happens with your bill by all means.

Re: Renew my contract today, will the first price increase be next March ?

HI @James30 , I'm in the same situation. My contract does not end until late May, but I'm in the renewal window and the offer suggests I wouldn't be subject to this year's CPI increase.

Screenshot 2024-03-14 094926.png

Is it worth waiting until April to be safe or are you confident I won't get an immediate increase?

Also, I note that every few days the offers seem to change - last week it was £29.99 (18m) or £25.50 (24m), then it changed for a few days to £25.99 (18m) or £29.49 (24m) and now it's back to the original offer. Is this normal behaviour? I wanted the longer contract at £25.50 but wonder if it's still going to be available if I decide not to renew immediately?

@JSM15 offers do change from time to time, so yes its normal.

James was pretty clear that the internal documentation said that upgrades after 1 March would not be subject to the 2024 increase , so it would appear that it was the agent who spoke to @Mark63 who made a mistake.

So if the current offer suits you, then I'd go ahead but take a screen shot of the offer just in case. If there is any problem down the line then James or one of the other Help team members will sort it out , I'm sure.

Re: Renew my contract today, will the first price increase be next March ?

Thanks @MisterW. I understand a renewal email is also sent, closer to the renewal date? If so, does this tend to be same as displayed in the account dashboard at the time or could it be a better offer?

Re: Renew my contract today, will the first price increase be next March ?

@JSM15 youre correct. As to whether it may be better or not, I wouldn't like to guess. TBH I can't see it being much better than the £25.50 for 24 months, the current website Fibre deal for new customers is £27.99.

Thanks. That's for FTTC - Fibre Extra.
