What happens to referral money if I leave Plusnet. Does it build up then get paid by cheque or BACS?

If your account is downgraded to a free account , this should happen
http://www.plus.net/support/tools/referrals/referrals_help.shtml (section 5 )
"Each month that a referred customer pays their subscription, the referral value for their product is credited to your account. When this credit exceeds £5, it is paid to your account via BACS or Direct Debit."

I didn't respond to this post - was waiting for staff - as there is some or indeed a lot of doubt whether a free account downgrade is actually available now

As far as I'm aware it still is. If someone wants to continue being able to use our email to send and receive, then a paid account is needed.

If you make the request when you call to cancel our COT team will get that scheduled in for you.

What about when it's a migration to another supplier and no call to cancel is made?

It's likely that it'll be gone. It has to be specifically requested.
