Possibly moving house

We have been looking at a house that is about 7 miles from where we are now.

Would we be able to get our phone/broadband moved, how does it work.

We are thinking if we are going to go ahead with the move it would probably be in a couple of months time.

Re: Possibly moving house

Hi @jockwav,

Our house moves team will be able to let you know what services are available at the new property and can arrange to move your services from your current property to the new one. We'd recommend giving as much notice as possible, ideally 2-3 weeks.

The team's direct number is 0800 587 1952 and they are open between the following hours:

Monday - Friday: 08:00 - 20:00
Saturday: 09:00 - 19:00
Sunday: 09:00 - 18:00

Re: Possibly moving house

Update: I did a check through the PN BB checker & apparantly there is no fibre where we are thinking of moving to,KA183LU.

The speed i can expect according to the PN checker is only 1-3MB.

So my question is if i move there & can get my phone number moved to there,a phone line is present there.

How will this affect my contract & payment, will i have to continue to pay for my fibre package i have now even though i can,t get fibre at the new premises.

Re: Possibly moving house

Hi @jockwav

There are a number of options available to you when you arrange for your services to move to a new address. These include paying a one off fee of £65.00 and retaining the same contract term, or agreeing a new contract of 18 or 24 months with no one off fee. With the fact that fibre sounds not to be available in your potential new property, a new contract based on an ADSL broadband connection may be the better option.

When looking to bring your telephone number this depends if the property is running from the same telephone exchange so we wouldn't be able to confirm if this would be possible until placing the order.

If you have any further questions feel free to get in touch.

Re: Possibly moving house

Thanks for your reply,as i can,t get fibre at the property we will be moving to then a new adsl contract would be the only option i think.

The exchange is the same so sounds ok,will update if anything comes up.Smiley

Re: Possibly moving house

Hi @jockwav

Thanks for getting back to me.

As soon as you know when things are confirmed for your new property I would suggest contacting the number that @EmilyD provided as soon as possible. When it comes to moving your service, the more notice we have the less chance there is of any potential break in service between switching off at your old property and switching on at your new one.

Any questions, we're here to help.

Re: Possibly moving house

House move complete, the speed drop for me was a big shock, not worth the monthly payment but i am stuck with it.

The BB here is really rubbish i went from about 37mb d/load to about half a mb.

Re: Possibly moving house

Are estimated broadband speeds included in the 'legal pack' these days?

Just curious.

Re: Possibly moving house

It looks like the estimates were 1-3.5Mbps (Checking DSLchecker on a more accurate telephone number check now the services are active shows 1-5Mbps) however you're in sync at the very bottom end of this.

While you're not likely to see much of an increase, it may be worth running through our troubleshooting guides and then reporting a fault over at https://faults.plus.net if you don't see an improvement after that.
