PlusNet Broadband Premier Option 1 vs Plusnet extra

Hi there.
Im currently still attached to PlusNet Broadband Premier Option 1 at £21.99 per month. (since 2005)
My peak allowance is only 20 gig per month where the Plusnet extra will give me 60 gig for only £11.49 per month.
Now simple maths tell me I should be on Plusnet extra at nearly half the price im now paying for three times my allowance?
My question is are there any bonuses to what I'm on now or am I simply well overdue for a change in product?
I currently have a small discount for nominating new users (£1.50) will this still apply bringing the Plusnet extra just below £10 per month?
Many thanks for any info and advice in advance.
All the best.
Pete.

You might want to check the market status of your exchange here to see if further financial benefits are due to you.

Re: PlusNet Broadband Premier Option 1 vs Plusnet extra

A small fact that you may have missed:
Premier Option 1 Peak time 16:00 to 24:00
Extra Peak time 08:00 to 24:00
If you download a lot between 08:00 and 16:00 you will need to take that in to account as it comes out of the 60GB allowance.
You will still get the discount.

Thank you for the prompt reply.
I'm in a Market 3 area which says £11.49 for Plusnet extra is that what you mean?
Is there any reason I should stay on my current account?

Re: PlusNet Broadband Premier Option 1 vs Plusnet extra

I think the peak use should be ok really.
At the moment I use the 20 gig up before my reset but at 60 gig I should be ok.
My peak time will be mostly for media streaming.

Re: PlusNet Broadband Premier Option 1 vs Plusnet extra

Though peak (metered) time is 8am to midnight on Extra rather than 4pm to midnight on Premier 1 one can use all of the Extra allowance without restrictions.
P2P and binary usenet speeds on Extra are more restricted in the 6pm to 10pm slot. Selecting both products in the UserGroup Product Comparison tool provides a pictorial comparison of the products.
For the type of usage you mentioned I can't think of any reason not to switch.

Re: PlusNet Broadband Premier Option 1 vs Plusnet extra

Sounds good seeing as 80% of my peer to peer usage is done overnight anyway.
Between 8am & midnight I will mainly need it for media streaming and the odd download.
Thank you, much appreciated.

Re: PlusNet Broadband Premier Option 1 vs Plusnet extra

I take it theres no hidden charges for changing my account?
What I also find misleading is that I have restrictions applied from 17 gig onwards pretty much meaning I don't actually technically get the full 20 gig allowance anyway.

Correct, Plusnet don't charge for a product change. You should be able to request it using the Product Change link in the Member Centre. Such changes take place on next billing date.

Hi kwikfix,
I can see the change is scheduled for the 14th, thanks very much for that - please let us know if there's anything we can help with, whether now or after the change Smiley

Re: PlusNet Broadband Premier Option 1 vs Plusnet extra

Hi Matt, just to say thank you.
My account is far more healthy now & my usuage is just perfect and for half the price I have been paying for years.#My only gripe is that no one at plusnet advised me of my overpriced low level option until I asked about it.
Paying double the money and constantly getting restricted every month takes its toll & I very nearly switched providers.
